CTO Lighting

Bringing warmth to CTO Lighting's identity

Founded in 1998 by Chris and Clare Turner, CTO Lighting launched their first collection on the guiding principles of designing lights of uncompromising quality, using only the finest materials and working with elite British craftsmen. This collection of lighting symbolised elegance and the excellence of British design and manufacturing; the benchmark for all future collections. CTO Lighting has worked with leading industry figures including: David Collins Studio, Philippe Starck and Martin Brudnizki Design Studio, on prestigious interiors worldwide. CTO Lighting has been commissioned for bespoke lighting for The Savoy Hotel, The Dorchester London, St Pancras Renaissance Hotel and Chiltern Firehouse.

Rebrand: the client had been having problems using their current identity as it lacked flexibility and didn't reflect the warm ambience associated with CTO's luxury products.

E-commerce: take CTO Lighting's collections online and launch a new sales platform for both retail and trade.

CTO in print: bring the rebrand to life offline recreating print ads, packaging and a 300 page catalogue.

Website Design

The previous logo had been in use for over 20 years so our design work had to be sympathetic to the original logo, whilst increasing flexibility and modernity. During the logo ideation phase we noticed that the original logo looks like a very abstract light bulb; with the circle representing the bulb and ‘LIGHTING’ representing the base. We decided to use this graphic in place of the ‘O’ in the new logo as this would be the perfect way of nodding to the original. We introduced warmth to the brand by assembling a new tonal colour palette inspired by CTO products and built a completely bespoke e-commerce website unique to CTO, with custom wholesale functionality.
